September 2025
ASIF supporters gathered on a gorgeous Sunday morning in September to commemorate the foundation’s 5th anniversary by participating in the annual Run Wild 5K at Henry Vilas Zoo. We are proud that Team ASIF was the second largest race group this year!
ASIF raised $3080, which not only helps Henry Vilas Zoo and the Ol Jogi Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya, but also furthers ASIF’s essential local efforts to help rebuild young lives disrupted by substance disorder.
Our heartfelt thank you to those who showed up for the team and to those who donated ahead of the event. We appreciate your time, compassion and humanity: your isintu!
May 2025
Our third annual spring fundraiser, held in honor of Aidan’s 22nd birthday, was a touching and joyful event. We raised over $5,000, with friends old and new, over the course of a beautiful May evening.
We greatly appreciate those who donated beforehand or joined us in-person to support 5 Door Recovery, our chosen non-profit for 2025. Its special mission is to serve people with substance use disorder who lack private health insurance. Every dollar raised will help cover room and-board shortfalls for people enrolled in their residential treatment program.
Three special guests came to inform our group of their important work and to share personal stories: Mary Haberman-Laesch, Program Director at 5 Door Recovery, Jacob Schonenberger, former client and current volunteer at 5 Door Recovery, and Iris Garcia, a mother learning to live without her son. We were all moved and impressed by them.
Thank you, everyone, for helping to rebuild young lives disrupted by substance use disorder.
March 2025
We joined dozens of other non-profits at the Overture Center’s International Festival in March.
The annual festival is a free, all-day event that invites the community to explore the many cultures that call Madison home, and thousands of people attend.
It was a wonderful day to celebrate culture, community and connection, and to showcase beautiful, handmade African imports. We thank everyone who stopped by the booth to share stories, express support, or just say “hi”. What a pleasure and honor to know that so many people in Madison are passionate about and invested in our cause.
Stay tuned and be on the lookout for the isintu team at other local fairs and festivals throughout the year!
